Garbage or Recycling? New Eco Club Tackles the Clamshell!

This post comes courtesy of Mr. Cressman

Clamshell PackagingI love strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, all kinds of berries. Problem is, the City of Toronto does not accept clear plastic ‘clamshell’ containers in its recycling program. Actually, there are lots of clear plastic food containers that cannot be recycled. And many people don’t even realize it.

It’s time to do something about this Eco problem!

So Jackman is starting a new Eco Club. The Eco Club is for eco-concerned 3rd and 4th graders.

Together we will investigate the problem.
Together we will put some pressure on the City of Toronto.
Together we will make a difference.

We can do it!

We can do it!

We need your help. For the month of April, the new Eco Club will be collecting clear plastic produce containers – berries, tomatoes, salad, and any others. They can’t be recycled. So, why not send them to school? Please rinse them out first …we don’t want to attract fruit flies. There will be a collection box in the front of the school beside the office.

Stay tuned for more Eco Club updates.
