We are saddened by the loss of a parent, Ruth Abbott, in our Jackman community. b. Nov 15, 1964 in Sarnia, d. May 6, 2012 in Toronto, Ruth passed away suddenly. Born to Beryl and Mark Abbott, Ruth was beautiful inside and out. She was a brilliant scholar, articulate, loving and compassionate. She adored her sons, Max and Sean Abbott, they brought her great joy. Being out and about with them, bike riding, dog walking, playing at the park, as well as swimming and kayaking at the cottage were the happiest of times. Music was also at the core of Ruth’s being: she had great chops on piano, which she’d learned from her mom.
Ruth is profoundly mourned by her parents, her brother John and his daughter Sara; her sister Jill, brother-in-law Jim and nephews, Chris and Benji; her brother Karl, sister-in-law Rina and their sons Luciano and Nicolas; as well as Mark’s wife, Josie. Ruth’s dear friends from all walks of life and her fond colleagues in the Ontario Public Service, OMERS, ORC and Ryerson grieve the loss of this remarkable, talented woman.
Muriel Deschênes has adored Ruth and along with their sons, the Abbott, Deschênes and Wales families, holds Ruth in her heart.
A gathering to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, 189 Yonge Street, Toronto.
