Jackman Jaguars Cross Country Update!

South Conference Finals – Monday, October 20th at Ashbridges Bay Park

Thirty Jaguars qualified for the South Conference Cross Country Championships. In order to qualify, a runner had to be a member of one of the top three teams of four runners, or one of the top twenty individual runners who did not qualify on a team. In all, seven Jaguar teams qualified for this race:

the Grade 3 girls and boys, the Grade 4 boys, two Grade 4 girls qualified as individuals, the Grade 5 girls and boys, and both the Grade 6 girls and boys teams.

A total of nine Jaguars advanced to the TDESSA Finals as a result of their efforts during this race:

The Grade 5 girls were declared Champions of the South Conference with a team score of 50. The team members were: Emily Williams (5th), Liliana Mahave (7th), Grace Valeri-McLachlan (13th),

Kiera Brody (25th) and Charlotte Marron (28th).

Two Grade 5 boys advanced – Gabriel Flammia (10th) and Stori Finlason (20th)

In the Grade 6 boys division, Pau Ilerbaig-Bajona won the South Conference Individual championship by finishing first, while Charlie White finished in 10th place.

Congratulations to everyone for a job well done!

TDESSA Cross Country Championships – Monday, October 27th at Etobicoke Centennial Park:

Nine Jaguars accompanied (by parents) made the long trek across town to compete in the TDESSA Finals. The day started off on a disappointing note as Gabriel Flammia, our top Grade 5 runner, was unable to compete due to an injury he incurred over the weekend. Gabriel worked very hard every Cross Country practice and his leadership was greatly appreciated as he made the trip to support our running Jaguars.

In the Grade 6 boys race, Pau Ilerbaig-Bajona was declared the TDESSA Champion, winning his race by eight seconds. Pau was an inspiration for all the Cross Country Jaguars with his dedication and strong work ethic. He was rewarded for all of his hard work – Congratulations, Pau!

Charlie White ran a great race in the Grade 6 boys Final, finishing 33rd(out of 134 runners).

Stori Finlason was our only Grade 5 competitor (it is very hard to run by yourself representing a school) and finished a very respectable 66th(out of 134 runners).

Our Grade 5 girls team continued their ascent to the top by finishing 5that the Finals with a score of 157. Congratulations to: Liliana (8th), Emily (40th), Grace (42nd), Charlotte (67th) and Kiera (74th)

(131 runners in this race)

Mr. Katsuras and myself, and all of the Cross Country coaches, would like to congratulate every Cross Country Jaguar for their effort this season…we all have learned a lot. Special thanks to all of the parents who came out to support our Jaguars!
